Imposter game
Play the imposter game on your phones
Everyone gets the secret word except the imposter. Say one word each, then vote out the faker.
No sign-up needed to try it. Saving your game is free.
How a game works
Everyone joins
Players open pardytime.app on their phones and enter the PIN. The host plays too, from their phone. A TV is optional.
Hold your card
Each phone shows a face-down card. Hold it to see the word, or that you're the imposter. Every card looks the same at rest, so nobody can tell from a glance.
One word each, then vote
Go around in the order on screen and say one word about the secret. Talk it out, then everyone votes on their phone. A caught imposter can still win by guessing the word.
What you get
Nobody passes a phone
Cards, votes and the guess happen on every phone at once, so a round takes a few minutes instead of waiting for turns.
Words or questions
Make categories of words, or write question pairs: everyone answers the same question while the imposter secretly answers a different one.
Nobody runs the game
Every step moves on by itself when everyone is ready or the timer runs out, and anyone can start the next round.
Points across the night
Catch the imposter for a point, or get away with it for three. Scores carry over from round to round.
Where it works best
Pre-drinks and house parties
A few rounds while people arrive: no rules to explain beyond one word each.
Party games to play on your phoneIcebreakers
Strangers have to talk to each other to find the faker, which is the point.
Your own crowd
A category of your group's in-jokes, places and people makes every round personal.
Questions people ask
- How do you play the imposter game?
- Everyone gets the same secret word except one player, the imposter, who only sees the category. Each player says one word about the secret, then everyone votes on who's faking. If the imposter is caught, they can still win by guessing the word.
- How many players do you need?
- At least 3. Every round has one imposter, however many play. A free game holds 10 players, including the host.
- Can I make my own words?
- Yes, for free. Choose Imposter and add categories with words or questions. Words in a category should be the same kind of thing, because a caught imposter guesses from them.
- Do players need to download an app or sign up?
- No. Players join in the phone's browser with the game PIN and pick a name. Only the host needs an account.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Playing is free, and you can make, save and host up to 2 games of your own for up to 10 players, including you. Plus adds more games, more images, audio and YouTube clips, private games and rooms of 50 players: a 7-Day Pass for $4.99, or $6.99 a month.
