How a game works

  1. Add the pictures

Upload an image for each round and type the answer, plus any other spellings or names you'll accept. A free game holds 3 images; Plus removes the limit.

  2. Everyone joins from their phone

Put the game on a TV, laptop or projector. Players open pardytime.app on their phones and type the PIN. No app to install and no account for players.

  3. Watch it sharpen

Each round the image starts as a coarse mosaic and gets clearer every few seconds. Players type guesses whenever they think they've got it.

What you get

  • Earlier is worth more

A meter shows what a right answer is worth at each stage, and it drops as the picture sharpens. What you see is exactly what you score.

  • Close spellings count

Guesses are matched forgivingly, and you can list alternative answers, so nobody loses a round to a typo.

  • A reveal worth waiting for

The round ends with the full picture, the leaderboard, and the wrong guesses people typed on the way.

  • Blur part of a photo instead

In a Trivia or Jeopardy question you can blur or pixelate just a face, a logo or a caption, then reveal the rest.

Where it works best

  • Guess the celebrity, film or place

Faces, film stills, landmarks and album covers all work, because the shape gives it away before the detail does.

How to make a blurred image quiz
  • Photos of the people in the room

Baby photos and old holiday snaps make the best round of a birthday or a family get-together.

Questions people ask

How do I make a picture quiz?
Choose Pixelated and upload one image per round with its answer. Save it, press Host and put the screen on a TV. Players join with the PIN and type guesses on their phones as the picture sharpens.
How do you blur an image for a quiz?
You don't need a photo editor. In a Pixelated quiz the game handles the blur, starting coarse and sharpening each stage. To blur only part of a photo, add it to a Trivia or Jeopardy question and draw a blur or pixelate mask over the part to hide.
What if someone spells the answer wrong?
Guesses are matched with some tolerance for typos, and you can add other accepted answers to each picture, such as a nickname or a shorter title.
Do players need to download an app or sign up?
No. Players join in the phone's browser with the game PIN and pick a name. Only the host needs an account.
Is it free?
Yes. Playing is free, and you can make, save and host up to 2 games of your own for up to 10 players, including you. Plus adds more games, more images, audio and YouTube clips, private games and rooms of 50 players: a 7-Day Pass for $4.99, or $6.99 a month.
